Help.24"IMAC vs MacbookPRo with Final Cut Pro Studio....

I will purchase the Final Cut Pro Studio video editing for the Mac. I have a hard time to decide which one is best for my need. I can not afford the Mac Pro with large LCD screen. For now I can afford IMac or Macbook Pro. I know IMac 24" with 2.8 CPU and little higher end the graphic card which is little more power than Mac Book Pro 2.6 CPU and close as Imac video graphic card. The difference are both about 1,000 dollars less. I have seen the after market the new carry case for Imac that is silimar to laptop carry case. I know that Imac will not work to go Starbuck or in plane to use the computer. That is a drawback.

I was so dispointed the macworld expo last week that Mac Book Pro did not come out. I asked the Apple store and they do not know when it will come out but they said that they just upgrade larger hard drive a month ago. I know you guys and I want a new Mac Book Pro which we will want more power,blueray drive, and faster computer.

Have you any one do video editing Final Cut Pro Stuido either machine and does it well and smooth? I know Mac Pro is best but for my choice for Imac or Macbook Pro..

How much video editing are you going to do in Star Bucks and on airplanes?

We found the laptop to be a great place to dump raw footage and images onto but not so much for editing.

I used to have a 20" G5 iMac that we used for " on location " editing.

We would sit in a coffee shop and use a laptop just to give the raw footage / images a quick check.

Editing was done back at the hotel on the iMac.

We also at one time acquired a G5 Power Mac thinking we " needed " more power. Well we sold the G5 Power Mac and bought a new Intel 24" iMac.

What a difference the 24" screen makes for Photo Editing.

We plan on getting a Carry Case for the iMac so it can be " portable ".

If you decide to go with a Notebook .... get the largest one you can.

Of course you could go with a Notebook and a 2nd LCD Display as well.

Personally we carry a notebook, but it rarely gets pulled out for anything other than dumping raw footage / images on to.

We do much more Photography than Video work and with 8GB and 16GB CF Cards the need for the laptop has diminished.
