First day on Android. I have the Pixel 2 XL coming over from 10 years on iOS. I am still getting set up, but I am having some trouble with notifications. SMS notifications are popping up won screen while I am using the phone, but not notifications from Instagram or Outlook. I have "allow interruptions" enabled.

The notifications are there, however, when I swipe down from the top. But when I swipe down from the top I can see multiple notifications from Outlook but only one from Instagram (I should have 5 notifications according to my iPhone.)

Lastly, is the anyway to swipe from an email notification (Outlook, Gmail or other app) in order to quickly delete or mark as read? Sorry if these are basic questions. I searched around google and couldn't find an answer.

TL,DR

1. Why don't all notifications show up on my screen?
2. Why does only 1 IG notification show when there should be several?
3. Any way to mark emails as read or delete from notification?

1. Android does not normally show notifications on a locked phone with the screen off. You get a ping and a led notification. To read it you need to turn the screen on. After that, actions are app based (ie samsung email allows you to delete or mark as read emails from the notification)
2. Android stacks notifications. To read all of a sub set, you expand the notification by pulling down.
3. See point 1. depends on app.

Go into settings/notifications and make sure you dont have stuff blocked or de-prioritised.

Check app settings as well.

To change notification settings on the fly, long press the notification.

It looks to be a security privacy thing

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings > Apps & notifications > Notifications.
  3. Tap On the lock screen then select an option: Don't show notifications at all. Show all notification content.

Here is a walk through from Google for the Pixel....

1. I mean while I am actively using the phone, I will hear a notification sound, but no pop up for certain apps. Whatsapp works fine. Others don't.

2. Instagram doesn't seem to have that stack. Only most recent notification.

3. Do you know of any mail apps avaiable for Pixel that allow "mark as read" from notification?

I had "show all notification content" selected.

You get a ping and a led notification

Not on all devices. Many don't have LEDs anymore and those that do take some work to set up the LED notification (such as installing a 3rd-party app). However, in looking into this post I DO see an option now on Oreo.

As for the OP's question - the app needs to support that function in order for it to work. I believe the setting is there regardless of app support for it, but the app needs to have the ability enabled in its notifications component. For example - Android Pay has that option in its notification settings but I'm not aware of a situation where you'd get that pop-over option from it.

Oreo improved upon notifications. You may want to use Blackberry hub to see all IG notifications.

You have a choice over alerts and notifications when on phone calls.

Outlook does not offer to mark read but the Samsung Email does. Naybe? Gmail, never use it.

Nova Prime offers a lot of customization.
