On my iPhone, a screen saying...

"Accessory is not made to work with iPhone"
"Would you like to turn on Airplane Mode to reduce audio interference? You will not be able to make or receive calls"

This screen will pop up from time to time. It is really annoying and I cant get it to go away. I have only plugged in headphones and charger into my iPhone. My head phones work fine but the message still pops up when my headphone are and are not connected.

Does anyone know what is going on?

I have only used the charger that came with my iPhone. It worked fine...just recently the message began popping up.

Check the iPhone user guide (PDF) page 116, it talks about what this message means. Basically, it thinks that the accessory you are trying to use with it isn't made specifically for it. I don't know about headphones causing this, but I guess it could happen. If you are using something that shouldn't give you this message you might need to call apple and ask. Good luck!

Same problem here.

Hopefully there is a fix around the corner because it is not only really annoying, but it's keeping my iPhone from being compatible with my iPhone dock. Which means no syncing and no restoring.

Stupid response but...

I know you won't like this answer, but it fixes a lot of problem. I personally need to do a restore of the iPhone about once every 2 months. You can try that and see if it fixes the issue.

Make sure that you create a copy of your backup file in the folder /Users/joe/Library/Application Support/MobileSync in case your backup is written over. This folder is not saved by Time Machine.

Good luck.

Received the message as well when placed in my Bose SoundDock I have in the office. Once in a few minutes it began to work

If they're like me they can't connect the iPhone to iTunes.

That fix didn't work, anyone else? It would sure be nice to get rid of this pesky little problem, that becomes a big problem when I can't sync or charge using the dock...

Well, I'll be going into the Apple store on Friday (since that's when I go home from college) and I'll let you guys know what they say about my iPhone.

Hopefully I just get a replacement, since a new iPhone would be nice, anyway, right? But we'll see what happens.

I've tried a lot of different things but nothing seems to work, and I haven't discovered a confirmed solution to the problem anywhere on the net, either. So don't try anything too crazy.
