Just like what the title says, my cousin borrowed my iphone and used the "erased all contents and settings' before he return. He says he did it so that he can erase all his information in the phone. The bad news is that it is stuck in apple logo. why? because my iphone is jailbroken. How i wish i warned him first.

Anyway, i've tried everything i searched in google. I am always stuck in a certain step.

The status of my phone: stuck in apple logo, broken power button, cannot be detected by my pc( cannot detect by ifunbox or itunes) but it charges fine using laptop and usb cable.

I also tried to put it into DFU mode, sadly i can't cause of the broken power button. I also tried using tinyumbrella to put it into recovery mode, still no good since there is no connected device in umbrella. Please help.
Will apple fix this even if i have to pay? or should i just get the help of mobile technicians from malls?

Try to restore on a different computer, but you will need to restore the phone. I think there is software out there to put a phone in DFU mode too.

you might get help from apple store on the broken power button. i think they have that service depending on the model. or on the sales rep. but I wouldn't tell them about any jailbreak. they probably won't touch it if its jailbroken.

i think when my iPhone was jailbroken back in my jailbreak days, i had that issue once but my power button was okay. it took some time to get it recognized and i had to do some soul searching in forums till it came back. you might have to do it a few times, each strategy. but you will be hindered unless you can work around the power button issue.

Thank you for the reply. Do you remember how you were able to detect your iphone? at first mine was detected by both ifunbox and itunes, then after i downloaded the .ipsw for my device mu pc can't detect my iphone after plugging it back. I sure hope others could help me. Is it possible that my device is bricked?

Sorry did'nt notice your reply. anyway i tried with different pc. i even tried in a macbook. no luck. Plus i. can't even use thos software since the pc does not detect the unit.

Just as apple juiced said is also what I would do....

Being that your power button is broken adds a new obstacle tho.. (If you can't turn it off that is ) So you really kinda have 2 options,

1. Take the 2 pentalope screws from the bottom and lift up the screen then take the screws off the battery terminal plate and disconnect the ribbon cable then reconnect it and put it back together.

2. Wait for the battery to die on its own

Then You will need to have your cable plugged into a computer with iTunes open... Then hold the home button as you plug the cord into your phone... Keep the button held until it powers back on and it will automatically take you into the recovery mode and prompt you thru the restore process...

If you use the latter of the 2 options you may need to hold the home button for quite some time before it charges enough to turn back on, but if you don't and miss the power up without the home button being held you will need to repeat the process again, so if your confident lifting up your screen it's the easiest way and personally how I did for my sisters iPhone 5 also with a broken power button

Exactly what he said above.
If you dont want to open up the phone just start from #2 in order to enter recovery mode and restore it.
If the phone is under warranty bring it to Apple to have the power button fixed.
If you're out of warranty you should pay and have it repaired anyway.

You try putting it on recovery mode by holding the home button and plugging it to iTunes?

You're going to have to do something. You're asking for advice, but saying you're too scared to follow it. Why bother then? Go to the store and buy a new phone. A phone without a working home or power button is pretty much useless anyhow.... you're just prolonging the inevitable.

Sorry I'm not more compassionate, the title "Accidentally pressed erase all content and settings" posts errp me a bit, because there's no way to accidentally press it, because you have to knowingly go into the menu, select it, and the additionally select yes that you want understand everything will be erased, and I believe even turn off find my phone... so the term "accidentally" is not appropriate to say the least.

well first i'm not the kind of guy who would open some gadgets since that would be dangerous for the phone as i am not good with that kind of things. second i'm asking advice here so if you don't have anything to say good then don't bother posting. 3rd well it would be an accident for me. why? if you read my post it was not me who pressed that button.

fixing the power button will require some type of service. what they are recommending is that if you cannot go to the apple store for service, the ONLY option is to open it yourself. or perhaps make your friend do it since he bricked your apple device to begin with.

iFixit and perhaps other sites and forums dedicated to the jailbreak can give you instructions on how to's on the power button. But you will require tools.

That's what costs so much in repairs, is tools, the time it takes for someone else to fix the issues.

my issue was the device not being recognized, but I had a power button. and i think i had to use it, with the home button mentioned earlier until I could get it to recognize.

the alternative is to find someone who can help you where you are at that has the tools and the time to dissect the iPhone. if the unit is not being recognized there are ways to keep trying. resets etc. i would not give up unless the unit didn't power on at all.

Well i can actually go to a apple store and have them fix this but as much as possible i would want to do it myself to save money, but it seems impossible for me to do it. I guess i will be going to an apple service center then. Anyway, thank you everyone for trying to help me.

Maybe jailbreaking isn't for you then. If you aren't comfortable opening (physically) the device, how are you comfortable opening (virtually) the device? This is the problem with the devs making it so easy to one-click jailbreak without any technical knowledge. People don't understand the risks or the actual background of that they're doing. It's a dangerous thing.

And how does someone pick up your phone ... no passcode I assume, and go in and "accidentally" erase everything on there? Sounds like you have a bone to pick with him.

Anyhow, I don't get it... to erase all content and settings you have to disable find my phone. So not only would he have had your password to access the phone, but he would have had to click the disable find my phone, enter your apple ID and know your Apple ID password, then accept that the phone was restoring to default... something just smells fishy here. If you did it, who cares, but the "my cousin..." story just makes you look bad. You're new here, welcome... May I suggest you learn more about jailbreaking from these forums or internet research? You're setting yourself up for problems if you don't learn about what you're doing to your phone.

Sorry, I am typing this from a friend's phone, so now I need to go in and erase all the content and settings as to not leave a trace.... :roll eyes:

Keep trying number 2.
Phone has to be turned off. Let the battery die.
Then plug it to iTunes while holding the home button down for a few minutes until itunes detects it in recovery mode.
