My Mac mini (2007) which has OS X 10.5 Leopard and 32-bit Windows XP Professional installed has a problem!
When I installed XP on it, the install completed successfully, but when I boot it up...
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll
Please reinstall a copy of the above file."
For anyone to pick up this problem, the setup doesn't give me access to the recovery console.

It's been ages since I ran XP but that error is deceiving. "Hal.dll" is not really missing but it seems that your startup for Windows XP is not pointing correctly for boot up. Sorry, but I can't remember how to correct it but it does not require reinstalling. Do a Google search on that error and it should tell you how to correct it.
