HELP - All of my iPhone MobileMe contacts just disappeared

I have just noticed that ALL of my contacts only have the name and company saved - all phone numbers, email addresses, real addresses, etc just disappeared. They were there 30 minutes ago. I have a MobileMe account but cannot access it from my office. I am worried that MobileMe will propogate this to my two Macs at home and I will have no record of any contacts. Not sure what to do other than post here and hope that someone has an idea of what is going on. Any help or advice is gratefully appreciated. Colin

Its happened to me too...

Think it may be a mobileme sync issue.

All my contacts are still in mobileme, which is a relief but i've no contacts on my phone !!!

Anyone help ?

Same here

I spent an hour on chat with MobileMe tech support this am. They escalated my issue up a level and said I would be contacted within 48 hours. Me thinks they have more server and software issues than they care to admit at this point.

I'm also having the same problem. When I try to toggle the contacts sync on and off (in Settings->Mail,Contacts,Calenders->MobileMe) It always stays on. Is anyone not having this problem, or is this everyone with mobileme?

No worries. It has happened twice to me. It is a server problem.

The fix is to just wait until the next PUSH/POLL or whatever Apple wants to call it happens. The contacts are pushed back to the phone.

Any ideas how long...not that it matters anymore as I'm off to bed soon.

Hopefully by the morning it'll be back up.

but it must be about 4 hours now I think.

It has been this way for me all day. I sure it is just more Mobile Me growing pains.

Guys,

Try this. Force a sync.

Go to System Preferences, MobileMe, Sync, then select Sync Now. Make sure you have "Automatically" selected so that MobileMe will sync without being forced or timed.

It should put your contacts back.

P.S. Just have to ask, you do have Push set up in iTunes and on your phones right?

Although i didnt realise what had happened and did a restore and lost all my old sms's and some pics.....never mind !!

it's a mobileme problem..again... my contact names and photos have started reappearing, but no numbers wth them yet.

I had the same issue I turned off sync for Mail, Contacts and Calendar for ME and than turned off the ifone and turned it back and bamm I had them as they appear on me

There is an app called PhoneView from Ecamm that sort of archives files and stuff within the iPhone. I use this to save SMS's and things. Do remember though that once the new firmware comes out from Apple, you will lose everything so do an archive before hand.
