i am puzzled by this sentence "the phone now cannot restore anything but 3.1.3" Does it mean below:

For example the itune version is still at 3.1.2 (did not not update to 3.1.3 when the msg for updating prom out), and when i factory reset it, will the version of the phone be still 3.1.2?

or will it be 3.1.3? ("the phone now cannot restore anything but 3.1.3")

Please advise, thanx

Apple recently stopped signing old firmwares, and unless you took the three seconds to save your 3.1.2 SHSH on Saurik's server via Cydia you cannot restore to anything other than 3.1.3.

This topic has been beaten to death recently. Read this: http://www.saurik.com/id/12

?

So does it mean that even if u did not update my iTunes to 3.1.3, and when I factory restore it, the phone will become 3.1.3?

It is still able to save my SHSH now? Please advise, thanks

Now there is a question, I am reformattig my com which means that my iTunes of 3.1.2 will be gone. I have the old file of iTunes application for installing in my com after the reformatting.

So can I ask whether if I install it back using my iTunes which I downloaded before 3.1.3 is released. Will my Itunes still be the older version instead of the updated ones?

Thanks

OK, just to clear up some confusion here:

Your iTunes version is 9.x. What you're talking about with "3.1.3" and "3.1.2" is the version of your iPhone firmware.

Just as was the case in the other thread you started on this topic, you will not be able to downgrade to 3.1.2.

And just as a heads-up...if you start a third thread asking the same question, it still won't be possible.

Haha, thanks :D

At this point I figured the problem in the OP's mind had to be "I haven't asked this question often enough yet". It's the only thing that would explain his approach to this process so far :rolleyes:

Can you explain what exactly this 'com' is that he's reformatting and installing iTunes in? I ask you only because you really seem to "get" this poster.

I wouldn't say I "get" him completely, but thank you for your confidence ;) I read that as "I'm reformatting my computer and restoring from a pre-3.1.3 backup; will this solve my problem?" The problem with that plan, of course, is his confusion between iTunes and iPhone firmware, and his lack of understanding that his ability to restore to 3.1.2 depends upon external servers rather than just the software on his hard drive.

At least I think that's what he's saying. It's obvious that English isn't his first language (Russian is, perhaps?), but that's no excuse for asking the same question repeatedly even when it's clearly answered.

Oh good lord. No wonder I couldn't figure out what he was saying! That's got to be the dumbest idea for fixing an iPhone I've ever heard. I think it even tops anything pcs_are_junk has said.

Well, it's just a guess, but...in the absence of any real explanation or communication by the OP, it's the best guess I can come up with :p

No, I'm sure you're right. It just never crossed my mind as a possibility that someone could think he'd fix his iPhone by reformatting his PC.

Something new every day, I guess...and now that pcs are junk is back, we have even more goodies to look forward to :D
