As of last week, Apple has rejected every build we've tried to upload because they're claiming our app uses a "third party exchange API" to facilitate the buying or selling of virtual currency.

This is patently false. Our app does not have any third party exchange API. We have a 'Marketplace' tab that allows users to access loans on a variety of third party sites, a small minority of which are lenders associated with virtual currency. Users must access each lender’s application form individually, and fill out the information requested in Safari, an external browser to the app.

I've tried appealing and filing clarification tickets, but to no avail. We have a hackathon tonight and if our new build isn't accepted, developers won't be able to build on our app.

Does anyone have advice as to how we can appeal more effectively?

Thanks,
David

Sometimes you just have to do what they say and remove or change the part they don't like. Sometimes their rules change and an app that was previously approved is no longer approved.

I would start with their contact number for developers. Open a ticket with them. I don't think you can speak directly to their review team but you can speak to their support people who will give you more feedback on the phone. They will most likely know more than anyone outside of apple will know.
