Help Asap Macbookpro Startup

Hey All I'm having a dilima here.

I use my macbookpro for work and I'm experiencing some werid stuff

I recently did a system update the April 19th security update and the install doesn't go smooth. The computer seemed to freeze at the end of the security update. So I had to press and hold the power button. I let the computer sit for about an hour and when i restarted it, it got stuck at the gray apple screen with the spinning wheel (which it got stuck on and didn't contiune to load)
I poped in my restore CD and booted disc utility and ran it. My computer seemed to boot ok into OSX after I did the disc utility but I'm very worried that something is messed up either with my harddrive or my OS. I'm going to right now back up all my music and pictures and whatnot just in case. Please anyone help!!!!

You know you should be doing that anyways. A stack of DVDs cost me like $15 its roughly 300 gb of storage and I do weekly back ups. It's just something everyone should be doing, especially on a work machine mac windows or linux.[/endharping]


If your mac is working fine now... then there's nothing to be worried about.

If the hard disk is SMART verified and the verify disk option in Disk Utility reports success, and you see no new symptoms, I would honestly not worry about it. For reasons I don't understand, every once in a rare while, there's a failure to succeed on reboot with OS X updates... you force a reset and it goes away and you don't think about it again.... Not that backing up isn't good for you.

one thing about the updates some times it looks like it is stalled. but DO NOT restart it. we had to reformat it because it will not start up correctly. i found out later the updates take a long time. and sometimes reboots twice. let the update run it's course. and the small updates sometimes takes a while. now if i were you i would get the stuff off and reformat it from disk. do the update and let it run. good luck.
