Hey thanks for your informative thread title!

Are you saying there is a thin crack in the LCD and the colors are running? Sounds like your LCD is...cracked...and you need to have it repaired. Take it to Apple for an estimate or attempt to repair it yourself. As for the urgency in your request, I doubt you can somehow stop the damage now...it seems as though the damage has already been done. That sucks bad though.

And pics would be great.

Ow! I feel bad for you, but you might have cracked the LCD screen... I don't know if anybody can help. You might want to go in to an Apple store and talk about getting repaired. Did you get apple care with it? I'm not sure if this kind of thing is covered, but it's worth asking!

QUICK!!!!! Take pictures every 6 hours, it's really cool watching the liquid in the display oooooze, you can make a pretty cool flip book, but other than for that purpose your screen is jacked. Ebay some LED screens, should be around $250-$300. Don't change it yourself because last time I checked ifixit has not put out any do it yourself LCD replacements for the air, I could be wrong, but even if it did I wouldn't do it myself either. Always remember the smaller they are, the harder it is to put the damn thing together.

^^It's not. It was an accident. May be covered under homeowner's or renter's insurance though.

yes, it is running, slowly. There isn't an Apple Store where i live. I live in Canada, Manitoba, Winnipeg. I got it from this electronic store.
Do you recomend that I stop using it.
Does it affect the use of the laptop?
Will I have to get a new one?

Apple will charge you around 800 bucks. If you want to try your luck at lying you could always make up a cool story about how you got in a car accident and broke your arm and you macbook hit the dash board cause it was in the passenger seat. You'd have to be pretty convincing with the broken arm, and prove a "police" report but hey it could work....not that it has in the past or anything.

I'd say 10 days if you sent it out on a monday. I like your username it's very pertinent. There's a bunch of 3rd party people that will do it for cheaper, not a lot cheaper but like 300 dollars cheaper and probably get it to you quicker. Call apple.

I doubt I even have insurance. I'll have to wait to tell my dad. (I'm still in school) He will help me.
Thanks everyone.
But is it bad to be using it while it's broken?

Thank you. But does the cheaper do worse? Cause I'd rather pay more and have it done well.
Thank you all so much!

No, you can use it all you want there is no liquid that can get out of the screen, it's inbetween the glass and the element. If money is not an issue just call apple and handle it, they'll do the best job.

I suggest unplugging it, shutting down your MBA, wrap the top half with a plastic bag and wrap the bottom half with its own plastic bag, and get to the nearest Apple Store... Check to see if you are covered by Visa/AMEX, homeowner's insurance, anything...

Since Apple doesn't sell the panels separately they will replace the whole top display case which is run you a lot money, but good luck.
