Hi,

I bought my rev2,2 MBP (C2D) in November last year and it hasn't given me any problems since then. I've always taken good care of the battery by cycling it about once a week, calibrating it every month or two and avoiding "microcharging" and its paid off since until about yesterday I had battery health of 95% at 39 cycles. Suddenly, yesterday, it dropped to 77% and then, a while later went back up to 82% (after restarting it) so I pulled the battery out and left it out overnight and when I put it back it was as 75% where it remains now.

Has anyone had this kind of experience? Does anyone else have a battery with ~39 cycles to compare health with mine? Is this indicative of the problems apple released their firmware for?

Incidentally I did install apple's new battery firmware patch:

http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

But that was a long time ago so I have no idea why it would take affect now.

Any advice, suggestions, would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm in the middle of calibrating my battery, MBP rev 2,2 had it since 1 november last year. My max battery is jumping all over the place in the last couple of days...hence the calibration

I was using it the other night, and it would not take charge, as soon as i unplugged the power it went to sleep instantly, regardless of how long it was connected.

Ive been running on 0% battery for nearly half an hour now...trying everything i can to drain it

ive installed the battery patch aswell

I was having the same problem with the battery on my macbook pro recently which I had purchased early December, however it seems to have stabilised to a reasonable degree, but it still fluctuates a bit, but I do have the history from coconut battery. But it does sound that our batteries may have issues. Been meaning to get it checked out but since its my main work machine downtime costs me. But right now its the least of my worries, I can't seem to enjoy playing games on my macbook pro because when I play them under windows xp, I get a random hard reset during game play which I can't seem to solve atm

Well my battery returned to 96% after a while, thankfully but I'm now worried that I might end up seeing the same fluctuations you guys are. This is the first time that it happened to me but if it happens much more I'll take it in and ask for a new battery.

ryano, I've heard of batteries registering as empty when they're not and this seems to be an intermittent problem that some people have (though this was on a linux mailing list so it may be a linux MBP problem not an OS X one). It doesn't sound too bad since clearly you're battery can't be at 0% so this is just some reporting issue. I hope it returns to normal. If it doesn't return to normal I'd take it to an apple store. You should be able to get a new battery with very little hassle with symptoms like those.
