You bought of e-bay? To tell you right now that it is possible to unlock is impossible. You have to tell us first what firmware version your iPhone came with out of the box.

More likely it brings 1.1.2 firmware or the newer 1.1.3, both of which, if come out of box state and not upgraded are not currently able to be unlocked.

It's more than likely it's 1.1.2.

1.1.2 OTB is unlockable. You need to downgrade to 1.1.1, then do the jailbreak and run oktoprep to get to 1.1.2 jailbroken - but you cannot SIM unlock via software. You'll need a *SIM solution to get your SIM working.

what SIM solutions?

No!! - These are not software solutions. They are hardware mods. They are little cards that sit on top of your SIM and fool the iphone into thinking it has a valid SIM.

1.1.2 OTB cannot be software SIM unlocked.

ahh I see...I had a JB 1.1.2 and tried Nate's 1.1.3 method and got screwed up. Now after numerous unsuccessful attempts at 1.1.3->.1.1.1->1.1.3 I'm back at 1.1.2 with my wiggly icons

The first JB I did was 1.0.2 -1.1.1-1.1.2 and I had none of these issues.

1.1.2 out of box -> 1.1.3 -> 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 = PHONE PART IS DISABLED.

I bought a fully unlocked iphone v 1.1.2 on ebay and it comes with turbo sim 5, the seller has offered me a fully "software unlocked" 1.1.3 one with no turbo sim required.Which would you guys go for and why???please help asap!

I'd say it doesn't really matter that much. You can upgrade the v1.1.2 phone whenver you want to to 1.1.3. You can downgrade the 1.1.3 if you want, but it's not quite as easy to do. So perhaps the 1.1.2 is slightly more flexible.

Soon there won't be much need for 1.1.2 as apps are being updated for 1.1.3. Then there will be 1.1.4 and the SDK, and you'll probably want to upgrade anyway.

if seller is flogging it for more the retail price i would buy a brand new one and unlock the dam thing myself.

Cheaper that way :D

MOD NOTE!

One thread is enough. Posting the same question all over will get you into trouble, as the rules clearly state.

And please, give threads a more descriptive title than 'Help' or 'Please Help'. Those title aren't helping anyone...

liketom is right. It's dead easy to unlock a brand new one.

theironist08,

I'm on O2 Ireland with an unlocked US phone. I've used the SIM sandwich solution, and I'm now on the software unlock variety. Both ways work, and you can switch from one to the other easily enough.

more descriptive title!!

alrite cheers thanks guys, il prob just go with the 1.1.2 one then with the turbosim.. I probably shouldn't be writing this here though as its getting off the issue of the main thread entry. Also "as the rules clearly state" (as Mitthrawnuruodo commented up above) I shouldn't post the same thing more than once.I couldn't help but see the irony in this by the way.. I feel like I am in a mac commercial.. "Hi I'm a mac and I post as many comments as I want to achieve the maximum help and support I need", "Hi , I'm a PC.. as the rules clearly state...." Thanks for the tip PC.. I mean Mitthrawnuruodo.
Later guys..
