So my grother's gf gave me her old iphone 3gs and i'm convinced my brother took it into him and his friend's hands to try and jailbreak it. He continued to lie to me saying he didn't have it and then 3 days later it popped up. So now I have the iPhone 3GS, hooray! :D BUT it won't turn on, restore, show up in itunes or even go into DFU mode. I've tried everything. What do I do? Let it go and kill my brother, or are there more methods I can try? (and still kill my brother)

It will go into DFU mode. The only reasons why it won't is hardware error or user error.

So let's say the problem is user error, is there anything I can do about that? and what is iPad BB? I'm a noob when it comes to iphones and jailbreaking, but computers are definitely my thing so with the right help i might be able to get a party started

Plug it in, let it charge, try DFU mode again

If that doesn't work, I hear strangulation yields excellent results.

LOL definitely a method i was considering!!!

To fix the user error, if that is it, you just have to get the timing right. Plug the iPhone into the computer, hold down both buttons for exactly ten seconds, release the power button while still holding down the home button for another exact 15 seconds. If done correctly, iTunes will say it found a device in Recovery Mode and the iPhone's screen will be off.

Isn't this the same thing as going into DFU mode? I'll keep trying my best for the timing. But at this point, I'm convinced it's a hardware issue.

Okay so let's say I attempt to take this directly to Apple. It's a registered phone and it comes up on their help page quickly. Would they laugh in my face or actually try to help me? Because I think as far as trying to save it goes, I might as well be trying to take pee out of a swimming pool. Thanks though everyone!
