My Mac is refusing to turn on. The only sign of life is the escape button on the Touch Bar which turns on. I tried to connect it to an external monitor and no signs of life. When I plug in my external hard drive I hear them turn on, but the booting up stops there.

I was rendering final cut videos when it started acting strange. Maybe an overheating problem. I first noticed that my laptop screen went dark but I could still use the external monitor. Now no monitors work. I tried two different ac plugs. Nothing. It makes the click sound when I hold down the power button to turn it off.

Is there anything I can do to turn this 2000 dollar paper weight into a MacBook Pro again?

It helps when you tell us which MBP you have, what year it was made, what version of the OS it's running.

Do you have a brick-n-mortar Apple Store anywhere nearby?
If so, it might be time to make an appt. at the genius bar and let them look at it.
