Please let's not make this a flame war, I'm looking for good honest opinions.

Now why would I buy an Apple TV over Popcorn Hour A110 ---> http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/index.php?pluginoption=catalog&task=info&item_id=10&main_id=0&category_id= I'm just looking at the prices and it just seems like Apple is giving me the short end of the stick here considering I can put whatever HDD I'd like in the A110 along with additional webservices like AppleTV has.

AppleTV has the better interface and integration with iTunes.

If your main purpose is playback of high-def movies, I say go with the Popcorn Hour. You won't be disappointed.

The AppleTV is very nice to have when you have people using it who don't know or care about mkv.

If you are the main user and are a tinkerer, then the Popcorn Hour might be better for you.

like everything in life, your decision will depend on a lot more than just price and HDD.

Here's a couple decent, but not perfect analogies for you: ATV is kinda like the Wii of the HTC world (except for cost). Its the one that your wife, your kids, and your grandparents will find easy and pleasant to use. At the same time, it does'nt have all the graphics power and out of the box "tweakability" of other systems.

Another: ATV fits better in a standard living room, while popcorn hour, and others, fit better in a home theater.

My basic opinion, if your looking for a home theater solution, ATV is not your best choice. ATV IS your best choice, however, if you are looking for a living room replacement for cable/sat tv.

I was just checking out PCH forums and reviews...It's pretty convincing since you can customize the UI/Skin. I like the fact that it offers more features and an option to upgrade space in terms of price compared to the 160GB ATV(over $300). This will be for my personal Home Theater Use. I feel as though I'm always able to decide on majority of my purchases but I felt I needed to hear opinions from actual ATV owners! I love Apple don't get me wrong(own a MBP 15' & 1TB Time Capsule), but in this case ATV doesn't cut it for me now that I realize what I really want. I'm already bummed about spending $200+ on any device, but technology makes me happy! Thanks for the responses and if anyone else wants to add any input feel free ;)!
