I gave my iPhone 5 to my bff when I got the 6. I also added her to my Verizon share plan. When she calls some people, not all, their caller ID says that it is me calling. It does not happen when she calls me on my iPhone, I assume because I have her iPhone number in my contacts. Her phone has her name on the Verizon account. How do I fix this for her?

Did you clear your iCloud, or did a reset of the phone before giving?

OP here. This turned out to be a problem with the database service that Comcast uses for its landline customers. After searching online I was able to call a company called Neustar. I gave them the correct caller ID info and all is well. Another reason to dislike Comcast.

Sounds more like an issue with some database provided by some third party that simply Comcast uses, since it seems like another company needed to be contacted to address the issue rather than Comcast directly.

That is what I said. Comcast uses Neustar for its database. Of course calling Comcast was the usual waste of time. The reps there had no clue. I had to do more digging online and discovered that I was not alone in dealing with this problem and others had no more help from Comcast than I did. Thankfully another person with this issue did not give up and finally found a fix after many months of problem solving. It is interesting to me that my friend (to whom I gave my old iPhone) did not have this caller ID problem with other landline services (e.g. Century Link in our area), only Comcast landlines. There is a reason that Comcast has, for years, received horrible ratings on customer service surveys.

If Comcast is using a third party service (which likely is in use by various other providers as well) how exactly is it their fault if that particular party/company doesn't keep their records up to date? Seems like it's the issue of that service not keeping their database up to date for whatever reason.

The problem is that Comcast does NOT tell you this when you call their customer service so you are left fending for yourself on the internet to figure out how to fix the problem. And if other providers are also using this 3rd party service, then why is the problem only showing up when calling Comcast landlines? I feel lucky that someone who had this same problem worked for 18 MONTHS TO SOLVE IT and was kind enough to take the time to post online so that others who were getting no help from Comcast could share the solution.

Yes that's annoying! Can you give a few more details as to what you did and what transpired in your contact with Neustar?

Here is s thread that deals with the issue:
