Hi;

On an Imac G4 with OX 10.1.5 and just installed the new Netscape 7.1 which blows away IE and Outlook Express. I set it up and have a number of email accounts for my different web sites.

I can receive mail just fine, but it won't let me send mail to the same mail server I receive mail from. There is only one spot to indicate the mail server vs. the two that most email clients have (incoming and outgoing). My server and sign in is the same for in and out so it should work but won't. A window requesting my password will come up and it won't accept it.

I have also noticed that when I attempt to go to my.netscape page again it attempts to connect to the log in page but an error message comes up. It did when I first got this up and running and in error I logged out and now can't get back in.

Has anyone had this problem or a solution. Would love to switch over but can't figure out the problem. Must be something with the passwords or security, but I have tried to delete the remembered passwords and still no help.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums!

Go to Edit -> Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. On the left, there's an option called "Outgoing Server (SMTP)". Click that, then make sure that "Server Name" is set correctly.

Must be a problem with the port!

Hi;

I have done some research and I think the problem is the port ID. The default is 110 on the Netscape Mail and this seems to be the problem. I have tried to change it to 25 but that won't work. I decided it was easier to just use the Netscape email account they gave me to send the email. This works but of course it shows the sending address as my Netscape address vs. my own email address from my web site.

This is a temporary fix for now until I can figure it out. I of course set the "Reply To" address as my regular address so I am cool now.

Thanks for your comments.
