I know this might be annoying at this point
But so I've been in a dilemma and before u say it M1 is out of options strictly maybe later but definitely not now
So my budget is in these
2017 MacBook air (which I've been using for everything until my brother ruined it) notably I was in love with it
I used it to write movie scripts
Forex trading
Coding because I'm a software engineering student I only use IDX nowadays
Even final cut pro for video editing
And Lightroom classic
And
Music production (when I'm traveling I do some work on it ofcourse not heavy then transfer it to my windows desktop at home and finish everything there)

So in overall it was a great pc and I don't see myself even needing an M1 or apple silicon laptop if I can even afford it
So I've been looking through my budget
And an offer at a local shop here
I'll be getting
1.MacBook pro 2015 ( Intel core i5 , somewhere 2.7 GHz ,512 GB storage ,16 gb ram at $300) [I'm really leaning towards this honestly ]
Also upgrading isn't in my mindset for now

2.Macbook air 2017 [256,i7] (just getting the same I had but this time the places I can find it's around also $300

These next ones have butterfly keyboard which I'm really scared of alot and I feel like I can't use them either they'll die on me while I'm writing a script or producing music or coding anything
But ofcourse some reviews online say they aren't that bad so no way to know unless you're deep in them

3.MacBook pro 2017 (base model I think it's 256 SSD , 8gb I'm not sure if it's lpddr3 tho I think it's i5 too
I know there a few configurations here and there upgrades that make it faster and stuff obviously better than the 2015 model
(With 2 Gen butterfly keys obviously with are also mixed reviews I guess)
I'm getting this at around $400 😅 which is a hard sell off I know importing fee counts here because my country doesn't have an apple store or something

4.macbook air 2018
So this also 256 GB SSD 8 GB ram storage same things with it I guess
I had to go through numerous resellers to find the cheapest one in my budget and that's them

So if you were in my position what would you choose also I really don't want a windows PC (because that's my drive at home and I'm used to moving with the Mac recently I hope u understand my situation
)

Thanks in advance

Given your price point and uses, mainly driven by video and music needs I would suggest the most ram first, then SSD size as external SSD have dropped to a very low price point. Of your option I would go with the first one.

Suggest you also look into Apple's refurbished and education store, as well as used on Amazon.
