Help choosing between 2 used iMacs

I have the option from my company to buy a used

Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015)
3.3 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 MB

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB

The 2015 is obviously a year+ newer model and has a Retina Display. The 2013 is .1Ghz faster. Im not sure if there are any other differences I should be aware of. Both are being offered at the same price.

Go with the newer model. The difference in CPU will never be noticed in real time.

Newer model for the Retina display it is lovey - although check were there not some issues with the ones when they first came out? Not sure exactly what that was.

But as the others have said, I would go with the mid 2015 simply for the retina display and newer internals.

for a company its weird to buy second one and bad depreciation year. Buy refurbish after 30th event.Too risky if something happen.

Unless what you mean is the company sold to you because 3 year depreciation net book value 0 or 5 years with x price. Need to check the price first. If around 500 dollar why not.

No it's not.

2015 is a no-brainer.

A 2015 has a PCIe 3x4 buss. Although Apple installed a PCIe 2 blade in the SSD and Fusion drives, it can take an NVMe PCIe 3x4 blade. You can install a 970 EVO into that slot with an adapter and turn it into a screaming fast machine. Essentially a 2017 with TB 2 ports. The 2T 970 lists for $579 ($499 on eBay) and smaller is available. The adapter runs $6 on eBay; $13 on Amazon.

A 2013-14 has a PCIe 2 buss.

The 2015 has a Retina display; the 2013 model does not.

Sounds like the choice is clear for the 2015.
