My wife and I need new iPads. Our current pads are too old to get updates and many apps aren’t available to us now. We use our pads for several apps, watching movies, sending texts and emails and watching vids from our security cameras. That’s all, so we don’t need a fancy pad, just one that’s new enough to get recent updates. We need two, so cost is critical. We wouldn’t be opposed to the mini size I don’t think. We only use our pads with WiFi at our house. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

As other said, the regular iPad 9th gen ($329 MSRP, $289-309 on sale) will suit your needs fine.

If you're not in a hurry though, it may be worth waiting until October to see if Apple releases an iPad 10th gen.
Or order 1 iPad9 now and buy a 10 in a few months, but I see I’m too late for that suggestion 😊

defnitely the 9 will be a great purchase

My mom is 85 and has been using a base iPad for almost 7 years now. She also has an iPhone SE 2. I just bought her a new iPad9 from Apple which won't be here till the end of the month.:( But yeah, I wholly agree on the iPads. Great choice. I think mom would miss her iPad more than she would miss dad if she had to give one up.:p

PS: She's getting $105.00 trade-in for her iPad 5.
