Help creating content (slideshow/iMovie) for AppleTV

We would like to create the highest possible quality content for our TV.

We will be showing potential wedding photography clients slideshows (and/or movies) through TV on a 52" Sony XBR HD LCD.

We would like to keep things simple and use existing Apple software. What programs and what output ratio/quality (size? fps?, etc...)
Suggestions?

iMovie'08 has some new features for the photo slide show. The controls are better than in iMoive'06. The Ken Burns Effect has more user control on it.

I would suggest using iMoive for the Slide Show and then exporting it to the AppleTV. Perhaps set up the iMovie project as full resolution 1080i.

Alternatively, I've played with the demo version of Photo-to-Movie and it allows a great deal of control for the slide shows. Can't remember if you can add soundtracks and such, though.

I just checked your website and it's pretty cool. Very pro-Apple/iPod. I love the idea of allowing guests to download the wedding video off of iTS.

I'm sure you don't need my advice, but personally, if I were a client, this is what I'd like to see in a demo slideshow/movie.

1. Some footage of the pre-wedding stuff. Throw in some smooth mellow music and I'm getting interested.

2. Ceremony shots/footage with Pachel Bel's Canon in D. Then follow with other appropriate music.

3. Reception shots/footage showing lots of happy people and the loving couple. Throw in a shot or two of the cake and some festive music and I'm just about to sign on the dotted line.

Keep it all under 4 minutes and I'm sold.

I found this thread and was wondering if you had any luck? I have been working on a DVD for a wedding pic slideshow with sound track. My images are shot with a Canon 5D RAW and managed in Aperture. So, I know the quality of the images is there. I have exported full resolution files from Aperture, imported them as individual clips into iMovie and added transitions and soundtrack. I exported the movie at the largest setting and created the DVD menus in iDVD. It looks awful. Now, I presented this slideshow to the couple using iPhoto on a 17" MacBook Pro full screen and it was stunning.

Have you figured out how to create the slideshow for presentation on an HD TV?

The problem with the DVD slideshow is that DVDs are limited to 720x480 resolution. On an HDTV, it's going to look terrible.

You're better off doing the slideshow in iMovie at the 1080i or 720p. Then you can connect the Mac to the HDTV and run the slideshow in iMovie. Not sure how to loop it.

Alternatively, you could export the iMovie slideshow in full resolution and run the movie file with VLC or Quicktime Pro.
