This is happening multiple times a day, not sure if it is due to the recent RAM upgrade although it went several days after the RAM upgrade without a problem.

The computer will literally not turn on. I pulled hard drives 2-4 so I don't lose any data from this... I also removed the newest 2x8GB RAM sticks and removed two recently added 2x4GB sticks (computer ran fine for several days with them in). Now it has 4x4GB sticks than have ran fine for 4 years, basically I ruled out the RAM. Now the computer will not make it to the desktop. It kernal panics on boot and then when I hit either open applications that were running at time of crash or "cancel" which is supposed to do a fresh boot without opening the prior applications, it kernal panics again with the screen going black then it hangs on grey boot screen for 30 seconds or so with no Apple logo, and the message shows up on the gray screen kernal panic. Is the logic board toast?

The computer has been having weird start up issues for the past 4 months or so. If I tap the power button sometimes it won't turn on, I have to hold it really hard for a few seconds and it will turn on. Sometimes it doesn't respond at all when I press the power button and I have to unplug the power cable and replug it back it and then it boots like it normally did.

The key part is:

Someone with more experience than me can probably give a better idea but my first question would be, did you fit those processors yourself? If so, you might not have used enough thermal paste.

Unfortunately, from there on things get a little nastier. If you hadn't been inside the case for a long time when this started, it could a fairly serious problem.

Try a PRAM reset: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204063

If that doesn't do it, maybe a full SMC reset: pull the power lead out, wait 15 seconds then hold the power button for 15 seconds.

If that still doesn't fix it, you're probably best to head for a service centre.

Thanks Arron, I didn't mess with the CPUs but reading the code myself looks like there's a serious problem with at least one of them (dual 6 core). I booked a service appointment. I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of the CPUs died based on the 9 error reporting banks...
