What is the best way to “decouple” an iOS device from an Apple account without creating a whole new account? I’d like to only have access to my App Store purchases and disable pretty much all of the other ‘cloud’ and social stuff.

I recently got an iPad Air (gen 1) and intend to use it purely for light web browsing and reading PDFs. I mainly do not want my personal messages/contacts/emails/safari browsing history or even passwords being synced to this device but I do want access to the apps I have already purchased. I know it sounds trivial but there are too many nooks and crannies in iOS now for settings to hide

I plan to keep this iPad as a beater device in my backpack so if it gets lost or stolen (or more likely I hand it to a friend:)), I do not want to worry about *all* of my data being at risk (even though I set up a 6 digit alphanumeric password).

Just go to iCloud settings and turn off all of the features you don't want to use.

How do I get the WiFi passwords to stop syncing? I have a network that I only want the iPad to connect to (controls my home IOT) and my MacBook keeps pushing my main WiFi network password to the iPad so it keeps connecting to the wrong network

on yr iPad: Settings/Wi-Fi click the small circle i icon in each wifi network that you do not want it to join automatically, and then Forget This Network.
then, on the mail Wi-Fi preferences screen at the bottom, turn on Ask to Join Networks.
