Successfully updated to Yosemite. Started the Chameleon SSD Optimizer and it told me there was an update available that supported Yosemite. I updated Chameleon and restarted. Upon restart, there was a progress bar for a minute or so and then I got the universal no indicator (circle with a diagonal line). Have I bricked my iMac? It won't boot into safe mode. I can get reinstall OS X from the recovery partition but will that do fresh install on or will it "re-upgrade" the OS?

Thanks for any help you give or light you can shed.

Yes. And when I select the disk that the OS is on, it begins the progress bar that quickly changes to the "NO" symbol.

I don't know... sounds like a recovery install is in order... do you by chance have a carbon copy of your computer?

Does anyone know if the the Cindori Trim Enabler fix will work?

It worked for me once but after a reboot same story and it doesn't work any more.

Thanks Chemeleon. Next time think twice before putting "Yosemite supported"!!!

I was looking on how to enable trim for support on my Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD and I found this article. There were several references on other websites that this was a solution that worked to restore it back to booting. From what I understand, Apple is wow signing the kext files and any (prior) change to the driver file is causing non apple SSD drives to not boot.

The exact same thing happened to my iMac too. Although I don't think it is related to Chameleon. I updated it and turned on TRIM on my MBP first and had zero problems.

I think something in my iMac installation got messed up because of these clues, which was before I ever got to looking at Chameleon.

  • No startup chime sounded
  • Apple did not ask me to verify my Apple ID sign-in with 2FA
  • OS X did not prompt me to turn on iCloud Keychain
  • OS X did not prompt me to enable iCloud Drive
  • OS X felt sluggish

I ended up having to use the recovery partition and restore from Time Machine to get it running again. Once that was complete, all of the above things happened as they should and I updated Chameleon, turned on TRIM and restarted the iMac. No problems this time and it's running well.

Well all's well now. I just reinstalled from the restore partition. It just re-upgraded my iMac and didn't wipe anything. Thanks to everyone that took time to offer their opinions. I appreciate your effort.

Chameleon does not work in Yosemite and his creator should be ashamed for claiming that.

I have to disagree, unless you can clarify more. I have Chameleon working on two of my Mac's, in Yosemite, right now.

You probably have Apple approved SSDs.

Google Chameleon SSD Yosemite and you'll see a bunch of people desperate because their mac won't boot.

My MacBook Pro has a Samsung 840 EVO and the iMac has a Samsung 840 in it. Both are working fine. If I had Apple SSD's, I wouldn't need a TRIM enabler anyway.

I don't doubt that there are folks having issues, but I would think that there are other contributing factors at play, in some cases.

But wouldn't make a blanket statement as to say that Chameleon, or any other thing, "does not work in Yosemite" when it actually does.

I can confirm that the latest version of Chameleon SSD optimizer worked fine for me in Yosemite.

Left picture: TRIM enabled
Right picture: Partition layout ( you can see more details with the MS Windows utility )

However, when I installed Yosemite the first time I had a problem with the partition table after the install and Chameleon did not work. I ended up with a complete SSD erase and a fresh install of Yosemite and Windows 7. After that Chameleon worked. I guess that Chameleon cannot work with an improper partition table.
