You may have seen my post from yesterday about this contest... My kids entered a Dillard's contest where you win a Nano, iBook G4, iPod Hi-Fi, and $50.00 iTunes card. They entered about 40 times each (I have 2 kids). The drawing goes today, and if they win, they want to sell it all and get a MB or 17" Pro. Is that a better choice or should they keep it all (if they win)?

How old are the kids? Depending on the age the iBook could do just fine.

The 13 yr old wants the iBook, and the 11 yr old wants his old iBook G3. They decided Zach (13 yr old) gets the iBook and half the iTunes, and Jesse (11 yr old) gets the Nano, Hi-Fi, and other half of music. The thing is Jesse hates music. I was thinking about letting Zach have the HiFi for his iPod video. What should I do?

Don't they have to be 18 to win, or can they transfer the winnings to you to collect them?
And was it within the rules to enter that many times?

Hate to be a buzz-kill, chickens, eggs, etc.

If you do win it, why not give the G4 to Jesse since he hates music, and the hifi, nano, and iTunes go to Zach. He could sell the hifi (if he already has an iPod speaker system) the nano, and the tunes. Use the money from that to upgrade the G3, or sell the G3 also, and get a G4?

Good idea, but Jesse doesn't want the G4... He says Zach can have it and now all he wants is the Nano and iTunes card. Also, they didn't care how many times you entered and it was a back-to-school contest in the kid's department. Anyone of any age can enter is what they told me.

so if you sell it all and buy a 17" MBP this will be your Third? why so many?

i'd say wait until the winner is announced before you stress yourself about how to divvy up the prizes... chances are, you won't have to worry about it at all.

1 is my wife's (we share this account we both love Nickelback :p
) and the other one is my son's who went to college (he wanted me to put it on my sig. since I bought it). My son Zach did have one but it was stolen so that's why he wants to sell this lot and get him his MBP. No, I don't think I'd need 3 MBP's as I have a MB and it's perfect for me. I would've traded with him, but all his friends have a MBP so they can all chat and stuff...

It's not stressing me out at all I just want to get things settled so that way if they do win, there would already be a plan... saves the usual arguements and screams  .
