I've been unable to find a solution to my Dock problems on any of the threads, so if I missed the answer, sorry. For the past week I can't get my Dock to accept the changes I've made once I'm logged off. Every day I log back on and have to return the Apps Folder and Document Folders back on the Dock. I then have to remove the question marks for Messenger, Yahoo and Google and remove the icons I don't use: Test Editor, PowerPoint, Project Galley, etc..

I've done so many repair disk permissions my head's spinning. If I right click on the Apps Folder, there is no option to Keep the folder on my dock. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. I've already tried disk doc, disk utilities, a different user, removing the desktop plist, plus everything else offered through various forums online. Nothing works.

Should I just bite the bullet and be grateful for what I have? Sure, except having to adjust the dock every morning is a bit of a pain. I'd appreciate any help you can give. And thanks in advance.

You can try deleting the preference files associated with the Dock. You will need to reset your preferences after that, but hopefully your settings will stick from then on.

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Dock.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Dock.db

Thanks for the help, Angel. Sadly, it didn't work. I'm going to try YES killall Dock next. I'll let you know if that works.
