I have a new 24" imac. When I load a dvd video into the drive it wants me to set the region settings. I try and do this and it kicks back an error message(error-70001). Anyone have any thoughs on this. The machine is only 3 weeks old.

Thanks

Have you tried a few discs? Try making sure the disc is not dirty or scratched, and also try with a DVD that is only one region (the one you want to set the drive to).

If not, maybe ring Apple, you're still covered by telephone support if it's only 3 weeks.

... anyone else know better?

DVD -70001 error message

Solution has already been addressed in software update.

Have a 24 inch souped up iMac. Tried to play a DVD and got the -70001 error message. DVD player software was version 4.6.5. Discovered two DVD player apps on my hard drive, both said they were version 4.6.5, but one was smaller in size than the other. Solution: use the newest version.

The software available on the Apple website is version 4.6.1, which says it addresses the disc validation issue, but be aware that is NOT the most up to date version.

Hope this helps!
