HELP Facebook Messenger (freezes and shuts down MAC)

Hi,

Having an issue with Facebook Messenger on MAC Catalina.

For some reason it keeps crashing the computer even when/where you only open the app, if you can get passed that it could then occur when you try and type.

Seems to happen every single time and I cannot seem to fix the issue, even removing the app and installing again via the appstore gives the same issue.

Has anyone else witnessed this?

No. But try logging in to the computer using a guest account and running Messenger from there to see if the problem still occurs. If it works fine under a guest account, then you have a software conflict of some sort, a corrupt preference file or font, or some other sort of digital voodoo going on.

Thanks, not really sure as I recently formatted my MAC after many years.

Though, there is really nothing more than a few apps that I really have that I would not imagine could conflict with messenger.

I will test it under a separate account to see if it is a conflict in apps and will let you know how I go with that - will have to then determine which app would then be the issue.
