Hi internet,

I've been working on fixing my Mac Pro from not working to working. Now I've come to the graphics card, I have one of those little ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT cards in it now but it's acting funny so time for a new card. I have a ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970 OC edition card that I would like to use instead. I'd like to flash the card so I can still have access to boot up commands and the boot screen but I do not know how.
Tell me what you need to know/what to do.

Thank you,

The GTX970 should work OK as long as you have the Nvidia web drivers installed it just won't have about screen. The ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT card is a single slot card so provided you have a spare slot then put the GTX970 in slot 1 & the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT in one of the other slots. If you absolutely need a boot screen then connect your monitor to the 2600 but otherwise just boot up normally with it connected to the GTX970. To save on heat, noise & power f you rarely need to access the boot screen then you might want to just keep the 2600 on the shelf & only put it in the system when you need it.

Here is a link to a comprehensive article on using a PC GTX970 in a Mac Pro posted by MVC's friends at Create Pro http://create.pro/blog/how-to-insta...x-titan-x-980-ti-980-970-or-960-in-a-mac-pro/
