Help for newbie/faq?

I have tried to navigate the site to understand how to read the rumors for a new upgrade. I want to purchase an iMac, but the guide is showing end of cycle. How long is that and how do I follow it? Does that mean in the next six months, year etc and does it mean a major upgrade?

That's the million dollar question. Really tho, the guide uses historic data to average the cycles. If you want to purchase an iMac do it, upgrade the RAM (not from Apple), and have fun. If there is a change within the next 6 months, it will be incremental. Some speculate within the next 12 months there will be quad-core chips in iMacs, but who really knows?

Thing to keep in mind, if you wait, buy the newest generation.... the next will be better & better. Depends on your timeframe, but don't let this keep you from going to the store tonight to purchase one.

Apple updates when they want to - however past history can be used to theorize.

ie.
Days Since Update 202 (Avg = 205)

So - it's "due" - but when it actually happens is only known by a few elite people @ Apple ... and they aren't telling. (Many of us have been waiting for the past-due & "imminent" MacBook Pro update for over 6-months)

Join the rest of us - and watch the 'Rumors' and hope for the best.
