I converted some audio files as .mp3 and .ogg files and placed them into my Dropbox folder and am now trying to use ES File Explorer to either copy/paste or move the files into the /system/media/audio/alarms or notifications or ringtones, though each time I do, I receive a message that the file can not be moved.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Have to assume you are rooted?

When it comes to moving files into the System directory, I highly recommend Root Explorer from the Play Store. Not sure if ES maintains formatted data or not, as I don't use it, and I also don't know if there is a button to change the directory from Mount R/W to Mount R/O, before you can edit or add to system directories?

Ok, now it let me move files to that folder, whereas before for some reason it would not. However, the alarm is not recognizing the files for being used as a new alarm after they were moved. Anyone know if .mp3 files or .ogg files need to be encoded in a certain way or named a certain way?

Thanks.

After I move alarms into a folder I find I need to restart the phone for it to correct the names and locations. I've only ever used .mp3s though. I don't know if .ogg files work.

It works with MP3 files. I don't know about .ogg files. I suggest you convert the .ogg files to .mp3 files.
