Alright so about two weeks ago, my hard drive on my PowerBook G4 crashed and I had all my music on my iPod. I have no other backups. All of my music is encoded at 256kbps AAC (no iTunes bought songs). I also have album art for every song I have (took me a LONG time).

Now I have a new hard drive and when I plugged in my iPod, it gives me the option to transfer purchased songs to iTunes. That is not an option since I do not have any bought songs. The other option is to erase and sync. That will not work.

So my question is, how can I transfer my music from my iPod to my PowerBook? I have found programs like PD+Rescue (http://www.tastybytessoftware.com/PD+Rescue/index.html) but I need one that transfers all my songs (with correct Artist, Album, Genre, etc. labeling) AND ALL OF MY ARTWORK! Will PD+Rescue work and if not, what will that meets my requirements?

So Senuti will transfer all of my songs in 256kbps AAC (with correct Artist, Album, Genre, etc. labeling) AND all of my artwork?

It will transfer them exactly as they are on your iPod, with the exception of Album Art. If your art is not embedded, it won't transfer.

What do you mean embedded? All of my Album Art is on my iPod.

Did you manually put the art in your songs or did iTunes download it for you?

EDIT: From your OP it looks like you did it yourself. You should be fine with Senuti

Well I have a mix of both. If it transfers all of the ones I did myself, then it shouldn't be hard to get the album art for the remaining ones from the iTunes Store. Thanks!

Ok, I'm getting the impression you have no idea what you're talking about. No shame, I just didn't realize. Your files are not converted when moved from computer to iPod or vise-versa, they are just copied. Conversion is something that happens when importing files from a CD format (WAV, AIFF) to Mp3 or AAC. You are not doing a conversion here, you are simply copying. Use Senuti and everything in the universe will be good. Promise.

Alright just finished transferring and everything is perfect! Thanks everybody!

PD Rescue

I just installed PD Rescue on a laptop I used to use for syncing my ipod. There were almost a thousand songs missing from the library. The progrom in a matter of seconds recognized the missing songs, and I touched the command to "add to Library", and it began and did it flawlessly. This is not a program to be afraid of, and it's well worth the money.
