help how do i add 2.2.firmware upgrade to itunes

I know i can just download from apple but im jailbreaking a co workers iphone 3g and they are on 2.0. I have work restrictions that prevent my computer from downloading from apple and itunes. I already have the 2.2 restore file though that i downloaded from the web. Where do i put where Itunes recognizes it and installs it from itunes. I put it in itunes and itunes is not doing anything in the music folder. I am also on a windows xp computer.

Leave the file on your desktop (or wherever).
In iTunes shift+click (for Windows, alt+click on a Mac) the Check for Update or Restore button (depending what you're doing), and you'll get a dialog to browse and select your .ipsw file.
