how to burn dvds
I just got started with this myself.
This site has a lot of info about dvd encoding and copy protection.

So far I downloaded DVDInfoX.

With no DVD in the drive, use this to determine the exact specs of your dvd-rw drive. Whe the results are shown, selct all then copy them and paste them into a textedit file for later review if there are any problems, you'll need to know the drive info. Apparently info from Apple System Profiler is not enough.
Next I got DVD Backup 1.3.

With this freeware, you can drag a whole DVD over the open application window and then select Process Files
Beware of 2 things:
(1) You must first play the dvd using the Apple DVD Player app so the dvd is recognized by the machine and DVD Backup.
(2) When you download or rip the dvd it goes to a folder called Video_TS.
When you do your second DVD, if you have not already burned a copy of the first one, be sure to rename the folder Video_TS 2 or save to a different folder so it does not overwrite your first dvd files.
You will need a copy of Roxio Toast Platinum. I ordered mine today, then we can take this to the next step. I already ripped a few dvd's so I am ready as soon as the software arrives. Check out these web pages I mentioned and see if the instructions are useful. Apparently this is easier to do on a winbloze peecee. Joe40
