Bought my new macbook pro 1 month ago and asked for windows to be installed. The problem started when I realized the windows partition was too small so I went into the ML OS to try and adjust it.. I could'nt. So I dloaded a windows partition software and did it buuuuut I accidentally wiped my ML Os. I then read if I put the partition back into 1 then erase it that I could through recovery then be able to reinstall ML...it did not work. I do not know what to do..can someone please advise. Any data on it which you need, do you have a backup?
If there is no data on the Mac you really need you can hold Command-R when you startup, hold until the Apple appears, after a while Utilities will appear, you first have to wipe the HD with Disk Utilities, then install Mountain Lion.
You need internet for this to work.
If Command-R does not work use Command-Option-R to do internet Recovery, this is something similar to the recovery only it needs internet instantly for it to download supporting software.

Edit: If you google "could not find installation information for this machine" you find plenty of entries.
I called the Apple Store and was told it will cost around £90 to fix and I will have to send it away for a week.. so I was hoping to make the fix without paying out

£90, ridiculousI know a way but I can't really tell you here, but you can guess what I mean.
What I can tell though is that many people make a bootable OS X installer on a USB stick, if that is done you could boot into it and install the OS, this WILL work.
my research so far shows me that I cannot recover and download ML os because I cannot connect to the apple download server. In which case it is out of order that here in the UK we cannot have the option of having a recovery usb drive with our machines

1) Buy Mountain Lion and reinstall it, then use your Apple ID to reinstall whatever apps you can.
2) Take the disk to a data recovery company (or buy similar software) and try to get it back. (Requires money)
3) Go to Apple and pay them that £90 to *maybe* solve the problem. (I'm not confident they can/will recover your data.)

How can he buy Mountain Lion when he does not have access to a working OS?
The only way to do this is to go to an apple store, do it there or on another mac, but even then he needs to make a bootable disk out of it first before he can make it to work.
Hmm, guess you're right. I forget this may be his only system.
The OP clearly messed up but in my opinion Apple messed up here as well, why not give people the option to make a bootable USB stick or burn a disk themselves.
I am in Asia with a slow internet connection, actually it is not that slow but capped, now, I bought a new Mini just a few months ago and want to start clean, I thought the whole OS Installer resides on the Recovery HD but it is just a watered down OS installer and still need to download 4.5 GB.
Apple should have included an App to burn/make a bootable backup Installer from the Recovery HD AND put the whole OS on the Recovery HD.
I know in the US and Europe amongst other countries internet is cheap and fast, but lots of people in Asia for instance can buy Apple computers now but if they mess up they are in serious trouble.
Charging the OP 90 pounds just to install a new OS is exorbitant especially so because his is only 1 month old.
Try going to Internet Recovery by holding Command+Option+R when booting. Once the recovery screen comes up start Disk Util and select the disk itself on the left side. Do not select Macintosh HD... you want the disk itself just above Macintosh HD. Now erase the entire disk as Mac OS Extended.
When that is done click install OS. This will take some time as the entire 4.7GB installer needs to DL from Apple.
By using Internet Recovery like this you will be running off a downloaded recovery image and not the drive based Recovery HD like in your earlier attempt.
