I think it started by e changing my name in finder... (below desktop)

I went into cocoa mysql, but can't see my databases anymore... i used to have a test db, but now if i try & re-create it it says:

Couldn't create database.
MySQL said: Access denied for user: '@localhost' to database 'testdb'
Any ideas???

Should i restore my mac? if so, how?? cheers/

changing your name in Finder is a bad idea to begin with, and frankly i'm suprised you haven't had more problems than just this as a result. If you want to change your user name, do it through Sys Prefs > Accounts.

MySql won't let you in because the user that set up the testdb and presumably the only user you set up to have access to it - you@localhost is now someoneelse@localhost.

You can either change back to the old name, create a new testdb under the new name or use a tool like Navicat (it's not free but there's a free 30 day trial, and it is very good) to add a new user for that database, although you'll probably still need to log on to the database as the old user/password to change it.
