There should be a utility that can recover the files (I don't know for sure because amazingly I've never used or even looked much into utilities). I think Norton might have something to do that. Basically, when you delete a file, it simply removes all the references to the data on your disk. The data itself is still there, it just can't be recognized by the computer. A utility would search the entire drive looking for anything that might be a file. If you do much work on your computer, it might actually overwrite the area where the "deleted" data is located, so you'll want to act fast so you don't lose anything.
