Hey guys, my new powerbook is great and everything, but it can't copy cds! With my pc I can stick the audio cd in one drive, a blank cd in the other and hit "copy" on roxio's easy cd creator. I don't want to compress the files with mp3 or aac or anything; i just want a copy. Is there any mac software that can do that? Thanks very much in advance.

Disk Copy will do it significantly cheaper. Put in the CD. Open Disk Copy (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Copy), go to File>New>Image From Device, select the CD and click OK (or select or whatever it is). Then set your Desktop as the save location, name the image the same as the CD name and click Save. After the CD is saved, eject the disc, and put in the blank one. When the error message comes up, click Ignore (or, if you closed Disk Copy, select "Open Disk Copy" at which point it will open Disk Copy, and, IIRC, prompt you for a disk image to burn. Select the disk image you saved and click select or whatever it is. If I'm wrong about the prompt, just follow the rest of the instructions.), and go to File>Burn Image. Select the image, set the burn settings, and click burn. Voila. One Copied CD (and you can make more copies of it more easily this way)

got it

Who would have thought "disk copy" could copy disks?! Thanks for helping me with my I-D-10-T problem.

It turns out disk copy can't burn audio cds though, so I figured out how to set itunes to import and burn full quality aiffs. I guess itunes really is all it's cracked up to be.

I'm sure Disk Copy can burn Audio CDs. Why wouldn't it? Make sure you select "CD/DVD master" as the image type.

PEBKAC is another favorite error message of mine ;)
