hi, i have an iphone 3G with firmware 2.1 and bootloader 5.09, itunes tells me that the latest update for the iphone is 2.2.1 but i only want2 upgrade my iphone to 2.2 because that is the version that can be unlocked with yellowsn0w. how do i putfirmware 2.2 on my iphone? i am trying2 unlock it so i can sell it and buy the iPhone 3G S.

Upgrade to 3.0 when it is available. Apparently yellowsnow can unlock the 3.0 modem firmware but not the latest one for 2.2.1 (there is a demo of them doing it tonight).
1 PwnageTool's site has links to 2.2 firmware.
2. Upgrade to 2.2
3. Download 2.2.1
4. Run PwnageTool to get a custom ipsw that will upgrade you to 2.2.1 but keep modem firmware of 2.28.
5. Install yellowsn0w.
6. You're good to go.

No offence, but don't follow this advice. Tomorrow, when 3.0 is released, update your iPhone to 3.0, and Jailbreak and unlock it. It's all released tomorrow hopefully.
