...on the big old web!

I'm from the UK and have an iPhone 4 that's running on IOS 6 and am with the Orange/ T Mobile network. I'm in Australia for a few months and want to use my iPhone (that I spent hundreds of my hard earned pounds on!) rather than buy a new mobile for use out here.

Orange do (begrudgingly) run an unlock service that they charge about £20 for, but are refusing to do this for me as they say they have no contract linked with the phone's IMEI number. I got the phone through orange so can only think that this is because the phone was replaced a few months ago after my original was stolen (I'm insured through my bank rather than the extortionate orange care plan.)

I think my only option is to unlock/jailbreak my phone. In the UK I'd take it to a 'dodgy' shop - but can't see any out here in Sydney... Am totally bemused by all the jailbreak options on the web - and not even sure if jailbreaking will unlock my phone - which is the main objective. Unlocking services seem really really pricy - and am a bit loathe to pay out after spending so much on the iphone in the first place (feels like it really should be mine to do what I want with!) plus I'm travelling so don't have many extra pennies.

Can anyone help - either by recommending a good jailbreak site (that works with IOS 6) or just any general nuggets of usefulness - I'm very confused!

thanks so much

Katie

Unlock i phone

I'm from the UK and have an iPhone 4 that's operating on IOS 6 and am with the Orange/ T Cellular system. I'm in Sydney for a few several weeks and want to use my iPhone (that I invested thousands of my valuable weight on!) rather than buy a new mobile for use out here.

Orange do (begrudgingly) run an discover assistance that they cost about £20 for, but are declining to do this for me as they say they have no agreement connected with the cell phone's IMEI variety. I got the mobile cellphone through lemon so can only think that this is because the mobile cellphone was changed a few several weeks ago after my unique was thieved (I'm covered through my financial institution rather than the huge lemon care strategy.)

I think my only choice is to unlock/jailbreak my mobile cellphone. In the UK I'd take it to a 'dodgy' store - but can't see any out here in Quotes... Am completely bemused by all the jailbreak choices on the web - and not even sure if jailbreaking will discover my mobile cellphone - which is primary. Opening solutions seem really really expensive - and am a bit hesitant to pay out after investing so much on the iphone in the first position (feels like it really should be my own to do what I want with!) plus I'm traveling so don't have many additional money.

Can anyone help - either by suggesting a excellent jailbreak website (that performs with IOS 6) or just any common blocks of effectiveness - I'm very confused!

thanks so much

I'm not fishy!

TriJetHero - it does seem fishy doesn't it - I've no idea who evelf is - they've changed some words from my original message - maybe they're trying to be funny. Slightly lost on me it has to be said. Labman - thank you - i have checked on ebay - but to unlock on the orange network people charge upwards of £90 which seems pretty pricy!

Landon Donovan - they say that I have a sim only contract with them so they have no connection with the phone itself - which is rubbish - I bought my phone through them on a 24 month contract (which is now up). Since I completed the 24 month contract I've reduced my account to a monthly rolling contract on a lesser rate to save money.

From being on a few forums - orange are notoriously difficult when it comes to unlocking phones so it feels like I've hit a brick wall (expecially as I'm in Sydney now and phoning their customer service number (a mobile tariff) back in the UK is hugely expensive. Does anyone know of a reliable jailbreak / unlock??!?!??

thank you!
