I'm hoping some of you themers can help me. Before I upgraded from 3.0.1 (jb) to 3.1 jb I had installed Illumine 1.6 via Cydia. I re-installed it after updating to 3.1 and now many of my icons are not in the theme format.

I looked in my folders via SSH and it appears that I may have an older icon set that now doesn't include many of my icons and for the life of me I can't find anything newer.

I have screen shots of all my springboard pages before the update and at least a third of the icons are now the default icons. I did not customize or add icons to this theme's folder prior to the update, they were just there.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Here is the before and after...

The same thing happened to me, for the apps that the theme icon isn't working, try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it, it should then take the effect of the ILLUMINE theme..

I gave that a shot. Interesting thing is that I can swear it looks like the illumine icon is loading during the install but changes to old Ivan right at the last moment. Oh well. Kind of messes up a beautiful theme.

That appears to be working! Had to actually delete them in itunes, not just on the iphone itself remotely. Re-add the applications and the Illumine icons are back.

Must just be some incompatibility with the new iTunes springboard manipulation GUI.

Thanks!

Glad to hear, as I said the same thing happened to me, I had to manually uninstall and reinstall about 15 apps.. lol, sucked, but oh'well.. things could have been a lot worse.

Not sure if I have been having this same issue or not, but randomly on 3.0.0 with illumine some icons do the same thing you're seeing. If i uncheck/disable the theme in winterboard, respring, then re-check/re-enable the theme again in winterboard, it usually fixes the icon size issues for me.

You don't have to delete them from iTunes... this occurs simply because the new linkage that allows iTunes to manage apps better points to the original icon and Winterboard hasn't been updated to intercept this pointer.

All you have to do is uninstall the app from the iPhone/iPod and completely reboot your device. This will clear out those pointers entirely. Then simply reinstall the apps (from the device, NOT iTunes) and you're good to go. :)

Thanks KrakaJap! This solution works!

I wish I would have seen this earlier today! I repeated the same itunes delete process that I used with the 3.1 upgrade.

However, there is a conflict with the masking capabilities of Illumine according to the developer. I'm not sure if the above works for icons that don't exist in the Illumine library. Can you confirm this?

Thanks!

Yes, this works for any icon, the ILLUMINE theme has a script included in it that will automatically convert the app to the ILLUMINE style. It won't change the image of the icon, just reshape it for ILLUMINE, make sure you're running the current ILLUMINE package.

If you want a different icon picture you'd have to manually create a new icon for the app.

I've noticed that masking does not appear to work for ToneFXs from Cydia. This is the only icon that remains the original size. :)

However, once I've remapped all the sounds I want I simply hide that icon anyway so it's no big deal. LOL

I do have a question though... if I wanted to create my own icon, would I put it in the icons folder and if so, do I just give it the same name as the app?

The Perfect Solution!!

Just saw a tweet from the person now responsible for Illumine. I tried this today and it works like a champ. I had a couple of apps that I didn't want to delete and lose data on, so I had some big icons left.

From K2AppDesign:

"Temp Fix for Mask Issue: Delete SpringboardIconCache in /var/mobile/Library/Caches after setting a theme with a mask. Respring. Voila"

Very nice!!! :) I think an easy fix for winterboard would be to simply clear this cache automatically before applying a theme. Unless the script for the theme itself can do this. Sounds like there will be an update soon for either one.

Anyone know where I can get the old ILLumine 1.6.4 version? Not very happy with how 1.6.5 looks.

I don't... but if you poke around in the icons folder Illumine keeps most of it's old (and a lot of alternate) icons, so you might find what you want in there.

Ok I'm having the same issue with a couple more icons as I did with ToneFXs. AnyRing and SBOrganizer icons do not seem to be affected by Illumine at all. Even after deleting the icon cache and completely rebooting the iPhone.

Any ideas?
