HELP I'm frozen

I have a 6 yrs old iMac, I attempted to load Snow Leopard and when it restarted it brought up the grey/white sceen with the Apple icon and the "thinking" circle and has stayed that way for hours. I turned it off and back on and nothing. Can't get it to eject the CD, no mouse, nothing. HELP
