I got my new iPhone 15 pro today, and after moving everything over and setting up, everything works as it should except I can not make an outgoing call. I can receive a call, use data, etc. But no outgoing calls. Talked to Apple support after trying a bunch of things nothing worked they told me to reach out to ATT. Went to ATT store and they reset and gave me a new esim. Wasn't working for the people at the store and then the guy helping me went into the back and the manager told him - "The activations are spotty today.. Wait a few hours and it should kick on - it can take up to 24 hours but usually happens within four. (Has anyone heard of this before? or were they just trying to get rid of me?) Anyone else deal with something like this? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Same here. I got the 15 pro max via Apple and cannot get it activated with t mobile. E sim problems. Now my old phone is disconnected and I can’t activate my new phone. I’ve been on the phone for hours yesterday and today with t mobile. They escalated 2 tickets. I also went to the store last night and they cannot do anything. I also went to Apple last night and they can’t do anything they referred me to my carrier t mobile.

Similar issue when I took my phone to get repaired at Apple and received a replacement; I was unable to activate eSim and was asked by Apple to go next door to AT&T where the CSR took care of it within a few minutes; the carrier has to update the IMEI and associate it with the account or so; since the device was pretty much bricked only they were able to make the update without needing to be over-the-air. Take it to your nearest carrier location (try and go to an official outlet not one of those retail shops for the best service) and they should be able to easily get you back up and running.

I will take it tomorrow. Thank you

Same problem here with Verizon; all day on the phone with no result. Going to the Verizon store mañana. Telephone support is just this side of useless.

OP Update - went to Att store again yesterday (sunday) and found out that with everyone updating the system carriers use to transfer your phone number to a new phone is inundated with a backlog of requests and simply can not process fast enough. Although everyone might not have this option- I was able to have att essentially add on a “burner” number to my account and am temporarily using that - I had to leave town for work for two weeks so I had to have a ln actual phone and this was the best temporary solution. Once this backlog of upgrades starts clearing out I will be able to get everything switched around to my correct phone number. Ultimately I think Apple dropped the ball on this because it seems to be happening on every carrier and specifically with the new iphones/ios 17. I bet they send a minor update within the next few days.

It's up to the carrier to manage their eSIM activation and it's up to them if transferring the eSIM works automatically when the iPhone offers that. The iPhone just copies the eSIM info and contacts the carrier's system and if that system is overloaded and can't confirm activation then that's that.

It merely shows that carriers don't care about their customers if they let their entire eSIM activation system crash like that even though they knew well ahead of time that new eSIM-only iPhones are about to be released.
