Hi! My name is Susy and I live in Italy. I have an Iphone 4 pre-used (from CANADA - Roger), gift of my cousin. With a gevey sim, I used this until 2 weeks ago. One morning, my boyfriend upgrade this at IOS 5 and now it's lock. I'm not a developper and I don't understand nothing about it, but I can't think that it will be lock forever. Please help me! :)

I am having kind of the same problem. I bought iphone 4 in France. It have been using a jailbreak sim since I arrived in the US. It worked fine until I updated to the new version. Now I cannot do anything with it, not even access the applications and so on. It stops in the process of installing the new version... Please help!!

There's nothing either of you can do. You screwed yourselves by updating. You never update through iTunes when you have an unlock.

when you are doing something like a software unlock or anything the least bit shady NEVER update. Your phone is useless until someone can hack the OS and JB it. Sorry you are out of luck.

Sorry, but you are out of luck now. Had you read a thread on the forum before updating you might have saved your iPhone. Look for the thread on upgrading 4 to iOS 5. Maybe you can find some help there?

I'm so sad. :( Do you think that someone hackers it? I have read in another forum that I can unblock it with Roger. If the phone is just payed and out of contract, they can unlock it for work with every sim and operator. Is it true?

google unlocking iphone 4 through IMEI. I have a friend who has just had this done. his phone was locked to orange, the people he used took his imei number & charged him £50, they sent him a message 3 days later, he connected to itunes with his three sim & it showed the congrats, your phone is unlocked.

dont know who he used & this was in the uk but maybe worth investigating

He was robbed, Orange unlock it direct for £20, all he had to do was get a PAYG sim card for orange, load it with £20 and call them up, the cost would then come out of the £20 credit on the phone, and you dont have to be the original owner of the phone to request it

Rogers can remove the SIM lock from the phone, it's just a matter of convincing them to do it. A brief Google search indicates that they may charge a $50 fee, but I don't see much information on "how" to go about requesting it. Obviously dropping by a Rogers store is not an option for you, so I would start with the contact options from http://www.rogers.ca and see what you can find out.
