Help: iPhone 6+ mic issues when on a call

Hello, I seem to be having a spurt of issues with my Mac devices as of late, first my MacBook and now my iPhone!

Ok so I have been on a few calls lately where people say I'm going loud and quiet all the time, so i will be talking away and then they will interrupt to say sorry I can't hear you which is highly frustrating as you could guess.

So I changed the bottom headphone, mic and lightning port flex but this did not fix it so it's not a mic issue. If I use hands free they can hear me fine. Can anyone offer any info or potential fixes?

This exact same thing happened to my wife's 6S+. People would say she was going quiet and loud and sometimes sounded like she was underwater. Like you, hands-free was fine, as were WhatsApp calls. It coincided with a tariff change so we got O2 to investigate but they came up with nothing. They swapped the SIM anyway but it was the same. We even swapped her case in-case it was interfering with the mic. We eventually solved the problem by upgrading to an iPhone 7+ and now it's fine. Not much help to you but at least you know you're not alone.

No no that's helpful, because that's the exact same issue so least I know where I stand. I don't really want to upgrade as it does everything I want it to still so I'd love to fix it. Might go to Apple with it as it shouldn't fail like this in such a short time even if it is out of warranty. The phone is immaculate!
