it says it isnt activated and wont let me do anything and that i need to go to the apple store to fix it but the closest one is 30 minutes away and i dont want to have to go if i dont have to. it is activated so i am not sure what the problem is. here is a screen shot

It may just take a while for the AT&T/Apple systems to recognize the update of your account and the activation of your new phone. If it doesn't work tomorrow, then I would make a genius bar appointment. Sorry about the distance between you and your Apple store, but I've never seen a case with this type of error before, so I'd let Apple handle it. You could also try calling and talking with a genius if it's a problem that you can deal with at home. They are usually pretty helpful on the phone if you can get one that doesn't have another appointment at the time.

yeah if it does not work tomorrow
call apple care first to see if they can help you, without having you go all the way to the store.
 
Separate question, what is that icon on your menu bar that is shaped like a circle with the center cut out sort of like looking through a scope in a gun?? Just wondering.
