HELP! iPhone won't turn off

Hi,

I just jailbroke and unlocked a 2G 8gb iPhone. I've done this in the past and haven't had a problem, but this particular iPhone will not turn off

I've held the power button and moved the slider to "power off" and the phone appears to turns off then restarts itself.

I've held the power button + home button for about 10 seconds and once again the phone appears to turn off, then restarts itself.

Any suggestions or plausible solutions?

Having the exact same problem with the exact same phone. Any help is greatly appreciated.
