Hi .. in trying to "make space" on our ibook my partner deleted all our iphotos. He did this 4 days ago and only realised last night.

I feel sick, but remembered the back up disc I made 1 year ago but when I recopied them back I then found out they were aliases so no use at all?

Finally last September 2004 our G3 ibook's logic board went so we have the old harddrive from that. So we have only lost 11 months of photos (shame it includes our son's first birthday and our first US visit to New York and Boston).

My questions are - (1) does anyone know if there is anything else we can do? (2) if there is a lead I can buy (and where from) to connect my old harddrive to my new G4 ibook?

Thanks

In terms of recovering the data you might be able to get one of the very expensive data recovery specialists to get at least some of it back. If you are going to go this route stop using the machine right this second and prepare for a bill into the thousands of dollars.

I terms of connecting your old laptop drive simply get an external drive enclosure (less than $50 I imagine) for a 2.5" drive and away you go.

Just noticed you're in the UK so all my guessing at US prices is for nothing!

That looks like quite a nice enclosure at a decent price :)
