ok i enabled my ipod for disc use....now how do i back up the data to the ipods disc...and what is the number for applecare??????i lost it:mad:

It does sound like it

Golden rule: You back everything up immediately before doing anything else.

Absolutely. Rescue what you can. Based on the behavior and the bad blocks, it does sound like a failing drive to me.

Drives are mechanical objects, and they will all fail sooner or later. If you have Applecare, I assume a replacement drive would be covered.

So, after you have rescued what you can, contact Applecare.

Good luck with it--

Click and drag anything you need backed-up to the iPod - it should show up as a disk on the Desktop.

...You may need something larger than an iPod (depending on what you need to backup, and how big your iPod is).

If you enabled it for disk use, I think that once you connect it, it would appear on the desktop, and you can then drag your files to it, using it as an external drive. I haven't done this, (I usually burn to CDs) but I believe that is how it is done, anybody please correct me if I am wrong.

You could also burn to CDs, but this may take time, so rescue your most important stuff first.
