Hello,

Sometimes when my MacBook Pro goes in to screen saver and when I get back to it, my network drives goes like this:

After this, the only way I know to get it working OK again is killing finder under activity monitor.

Is this a known error or there is something I am doing wrong.

Thanks and best regards,

Adelmo Silva

Rather than killing the Finder, you might try clicking that disconnect button. Then open Disk Utility and reconnect it.

Chances are this problem is caused by the Western Digital software that they ship with the drive. Fortunately, macOS knows how to manage disk drives. You don't need any of the Western Digital software. My recommendation is to backup the data from that drive and then reformat it in Disk Utility. That'll get rid of any special WD software. Once that's done you can move your data back and I bet everything will be fine. You can also uninstall any WD software that you've installed on the Mac.

He's using it as a NAS.

Is "Drive Sleep" set to "on" on the device? Not sure that would help but it's worth a shot.

Also, does the device have a static IP?

Hello,

I am sorry for the late reply, yes, the drive is using static IP.

The hard drive is WD My Cloud with 3TB and the firmware is up to date.
